In this class, we will work on the concepts of use of the space, focus distribution, balance of forces, status, and framing.

How Much Do We Love Each Other On Stage?, with Diego Ingold

A mother's love is incalculable, but starting today, the love between characters in a scene can be calculated.
If we find a common code of love and interest between a police officer and a prisoner, between a vendor and a supplier, we will know what the characters want, and even if we talk about other things, the audience will know what we are really talking about.
But… if we know how to love, can we show how much interest we have in our profession? Because of where we are? The answer is yes, it is exactly the same, and we are going to carry it out in this workshop.

Is a structure-preserving map from one mathematical structure to another one of the same type.
As improvisors, we play a lot with associations, as a verbal way to connect and inspire each other and ourselves.
But we tend to give only a little attention to physical associations, what the body tells us and how it can inspire us.
In this format the group collective supports the individual player and the scene, using physical and emotional echo, giving the scenes new and deeper meaning.
The transformation of our movement will inspire our stories and scenes, from individuals to the group and vice versa.

Over the years I have learned to apply to my life and to improv, which is an essential part of it, elements from the Buddhist Eastern philosophies.
One of these concepts is “Wu Wei” that is an important concept of Taoism and means natural action, or in other words, action that does not involve struggle or excessive effort.
Wu Wei is the cultivation of a body-mind state of harmony in which our actions are quite effortlessly in alignment with the flow.
This workshop combines physical theater techniques with the exciting eastern philosophy and mindfulness helping us as improvisers to be aware of our need for control and let it go and giving us tools to reach the flow, to be in the present answering to our inner impulse and to connect with our self and with our partners on stage.

This workshop is centered around using the most explosive, loaded, impossible to ignore dialog to get the scene going. Not sure what to say? Go big! Overreact! Emote! Forget starting slow – in this one we will start strong and never let go. 

Of course, going big doesn’t necessarily mean shouting or jumping up and down. This workshop emphasizes finding the deep desire of the character, turning up its emotional volume knob and using clear physicality. Some of the scenes might get loud, but most will be simply intense.
